What is ILLiad?
ILLiad is the electronic system used to request an item through Interlibrary Loan. This lending Web form is for the use of libraries and institutions that want to request materials from the University of Georgia Libraries. Individuals need to submit requests through their local library. University of Georgia faculty, students, staff and eligible affiliates can make requests through the borrowing form found on the Interlibrary Loan Home Page.
How is ILLiad better than traditional ILL systems?
- You will find it easier to submit your interlibrary loan requests. When registering, you enter your institution's name, address, and other information into the system only once and it is retained by ILLiad. Please remember to update any changes in your information including changes in your Ariel or Odyssey address.
- You can get information about the status of your patrons' requests through the Web at any time without having to call us.
- All data about your requests and their handling is stored in a searchable database, so if you do need to call us, we are able to respond quickly to your inquiries about your patrons' requests.
Are there any disadvantages to the electronic system?
Some people might find it troublesome to have to log into ILLiad using a username and password. However, we believe that the ILLiad Web form is more efficient than traditional paper and electronic systems which require you to enter your institution's information with each new request.
Why do I need a username and password to use ILLiad?
Your username and password allows us to give you secure access to information about your patrons' interlibrary loan requests. Your username can be anything you like (5 character minimum). Your password also can be anything you like. We recommend that you follow good security practice and choose a password that is different from those you use to access other systems. However, the password you set is stored in an encrypted file, and will not be known by us.
What if I forget my password?
In the event that you forget your password, please contact us at 706.542.3274, Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM EST, or email us at lending@uga.edu, and we will reset your password. You will be notified as soon as your password is reset. Please do not create a new account.
What Web browser should I use?
You need a Web browser that can handle forms, tables, and preferrably Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). We recommend the current versions of either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
Who do I contact if I have problems with or questions about our ILLiad Web form?
Please call us at 706.542.3274 (Monday - Friday, 8-5 EST), or email us at lending@uga.edu.
Why does my browser say that you're sending a cookie? What's in it?
The technology that we use sends a Session ID to be stored on your machine. You can refuse this cookie and still be able to use ILLiad without any problems.
